Deep Thought Media is a small but highly impactful digital marketing agency based in Table View, Cape Town. We are currently looking for a passionate Junior SEO Specialist to join our growing team. This role is ideal for someone who may not have a degree or diploma but is self taught and fascinated by the inner workings of Google and SEO.

We have all the tools you need to perform your SEO work as well as reporting.

If you have any basic experience with Google ads and web development, this will be a big advantage.

Job Description:

As a Junior SEO Specialist at Deep Thought Media, you will be responsible for assisting in the development and execution of our SEO strategies to enhance our clients online presence and improve our search engine rankings.

This entry-level position is a fantastic opportunity to gain hands-on experience in SEO and digital marketing within a supportive and knowledgeable team. You will be responsible for:

• Client communication
• Articles / blogs
• On page and off page SEO
• Backlink campaigns
• GA4 implementation
• Keyword and competitor research
• Manage specific Google services (GMB, Analytics, Search Console)
• Monthly reporting

You will be measured on:

• How effective is your SEO client growth month-on-month (versus previous 6 month average)
• Client retention rate (what is the average life cycle of clients before cancellation)
• Set a 6 month realistic growth goal at starting point to achieve. We do this at starting point of each campaign and after 6 month see if you achieved the goal, and then reassess the goal.
• Data driven decision making. What decisions you make based on the data and if it is/was affective.
• Performance Comparison against bench marks every 3 months to see if your strategy is working.
• Quality of articles/content created for the website when required.
• Delegate work to assistants, this could be: articles, research (keywords, competitors, top clusters)
• Completing fundamentals of SEO

Full Job Description

We are looking for an experienced, passionate, and creative Social Media Specialist to join our team. As a Social Media Specialist you will be responsible for developing and implementing Social Media calendars and plans in order to grow the online presence and reach of our clients accounts. You will be working closely with our graphic designer and strategist and will be expected to liaise directly with our clients.

Social Media Specialist duties and responsibilities:

• Develop, implement, and manage social media strategies.
• Define most important social media KPIs for each client.
• Develop social media content utilising the skills of our inhouse designer.
• Ensure content is informative, of high standards and engaging.
• Measure the success of every social media account.
• Develop a monthly social media conversation plan for each client.
• Obtain client approval for monthly Social Media plans, working on strict deadlines.
• Stay up to date with latest social media best practices and technologies.
• Collaborate with Marketing and Sales.

Social Media Specialist requirements and qualifications:

• 2+ years of experience as a Social Media Specialist or similar role. Can be for another agency or if you worked as freelancer.
• Creativity is important, thinking outside the box and understanding each clients needs.
• Using social media for brand awareness and organic credibility building
• Excellent knowledge of Facebook and Instagram, other social media platforms are an advantage.
• Excellent multitasking skills
• Team player
• Good time-management skills
• Knowledge of Social Media scheduling tools
• Great interpersonal, presentation and communication skills
• Proven success in previous campaigns or activities

We will teach you (if you dont know already)

• How to write effectively for SEO
• How to work within an agency
• How to produce content for any type of client/industry.
• How to use various keyword tools, A.I writing software.
• Applying copy to websites so basic WordPress and Divi.
• How to use certain project management tools.
• Various apps such as Heropost, Hootsuite, Meta Business Suite, Facebook, Instagram, Longshot AI, and more.

Its an advantage if you speak additional languages (German, Afrikaans) – but not essential
You must have a drivers license and own transport as you may need to visit clients occassionally.

The right applicant should meet at least one of the below pre-requisites:

• Copywriting samples; can be work done in personal or business capacity.
• An ability to describe product features in a creative and informative way
• Excellent writing and editing skills in English
• Time-management skills
• Any diploma or certificate in copywriting or content writing would be an advantage.
